Win Jens Lekman tickets! Download a brand new song!
There’s rarely a dull moment when Jens Lekman is around, and this Bank Holiday Sunday sees the return of the likeable Swede to Irish shores as he kicks off a brief European tour at Dublin’s Whelans. Thanks to our good friends at Foggy Notions, we’ve got a pair of tickets to give away to the show, which will see Lekman headline a triple-bill that also includes The Blow and Bill Wells. To bag the tickets, all you’ve got to do is email info@raggedwords.com before 6pm on Friday, and tell us what city in Sweden Jens Lekman hails from. Failing that, just tell us a joke or something. Or send us money, that usually works. Terms and conditions apply and all that jazz.
In other Lekman-related news, the 29 year-old yesterday premiered a new song via his label Secretly Canadian’s blog. The track, subtly entitled ‘The End Of The World Is Bigger Than Love’, is the troubadour’s first new material since a prolonged bout of writer’s block that set in after the release of 2007’s Night Falls Over Kortedala LP. It can be downloaded for free (well, in exchange for your email address) right here. If you’ve got a minute to spare, we recommend reading the typically whimsical accompanying account of how the new song came about. Like a lot of the man’s music it’s a bit like reading a tear-stained diary entry, but it does contain the line “I was…joking with the hosts and discussing the lobster with the TV chef”. Enjoy!
Jens Lekman plays Whelans this Sunday, August 1st, with support from The Blow & Bill Wells. Doors open @ 8pm, and tickets (17.50 euro) are available now from tickets.ie.
