Picnic Basket: Saturday

Okay, so you’ve shaken out your tent, downloaded seventeen different festival apps. to your phone, and are now frantically trying to sort out a lift down to Stradbally for the weekend. With less than three days to go before the campsite opens its gates, Electric Picnic fever is buiding up nicely.

Yesterday the final lineups and stage times for the Body & Soul Village were announced, and we’re told that the official timetable for all other stages will be appearing online tomorrow. In the meantime, here’s some music to help get you (even more) in the festival mood while you sit and hit refresh on Met Eireann’s five-day weather forecast.

As promised, we’re bringing you a new Picnic-themed mix every day this week – and we might even throw in an extra one on Thursday if you ask nicely. Following yesterday’s mix, made up of acts who’ll be playing the opening day of this year’s festival, today we’re turning our attention to Saturday’s lineup. Reflecting the broad range of sounds that helps make EP Ireland’s premier music weekender, there’s a bit of everything on this one: from electronic pioneers (and likely Saturday night headliners) Leftfield to the spine-tingling harmonies of Mountain Man – arguably the least ‘electric’ band of the weekend.
