London record store Pure Groove to shut
London record store Pure Groove, which has had the likes of Late Of The Pier, Amadou & Miriam, Friendly Fires and Lykke Li perform in store since moving to its Smithfields location two years ago, will regrettably be closing its doors next week, concentrating instead on its online store, hosting events elsewhere and an yet-to-be-announced use for 6-7 West Smithfield.
The store said in a statement:
"It is with some regret to announce that Pure Groove will be closing the record shop department in its current 6-7 West Smithfield location from Tuesday 20th July. Recent developments in the building have made staging events impossible and we have decided that it’s time to call it a day for music in-store. We’ll be shutting on 20th July for a period of renovation so keep an eye on the exciting new venture coming soon to Smithfields."
Having ransacked Pure Grooves' Holloway Road premisis when it moved in 2008, Ragged Words highly recommends you head down to the current location this Saturday, July 17, where there'll be a record fair from 12-5pm with the promise of bargains galore.
