LCD Soundsystem Announce Rescheduled, Discounted Dublin Dates
As consolation for the summer festival season drawing to a close, September usually brings with it a flurry of gig announcements, and already this month a number of big-name acts have unveiled details of upcoming UK and Irish dates. This trend continued today with the news that, less than ten days on from playing to a packed-out tent at Electric Picnic, LCD Soundsystem have lined up a brace of mid-November Dublin shows. The gigs – which will take place at Dublin’s Tripod on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th November – are effectively a rescheduled return to Irish shores for James Murphy & co. following the volcanic ash cloud-related cancellation of a pair of dates at the same venue back in April.
The word from promoters POD is that fans who had previously bought tickets for the April shows will have access to a priority presale, as well as a discounted ticket price of €35.50 including booking fee. If you are one of these people, you can expect to be contacted via email by Ticketmaster with a link to the presale, which begins this Thursday 16th September at 9am. General onsale will then commence 24 hours later, with tickets priced €39.50 including booking fee.
The one slightly disappointing bit of news is that Irish gig-goers won’t be getting an exact repeat of that recent Saturday night lineup inside the Electric Picnic big top. That’s because although LCD SS will be playing a number of co-headlining UK shows with partners in crime Hot Chip the same week they visit Dublin, The Chip will unfortunately have begun their tour of Latin America by the time November 19th rolls around. Support for the Irish shows will instead come from Murphy's best pal and DFA labelmate Shit Robot, essentially the electropop alias of Dublin native Marcus Lambkin.
