Caribou Set For Intimate End-Of-Year Dublin Date
Not much information to hand about this, but we understand Dan Snaith (aka Caribou) has just tacked a show at Dublin’s Crawdaddy on to the end of his extensive winter European tour. Snaith, whose recent Swim long-player is a more or less permanent fixture on the RW stereo these long summer days, has yet to add the December 9th show to his MySpace tour schedule, and there’s been no mention yet of any Irish date(s) from the Canadian’s label, City Slang. But we happen to know a man who knows a man who read somewhere that the gig is indeed happening. As luck would have it, tickets.ie must know the same guy, because they’ve started selling tickets – at €16 a pop – here. Probably best not to hang about, as we reckon Snaith will have no difficulty selling out the 300-capacity Harcourt St. venue. And while you’re waiting for your ticket order to be confirmed, why not listen to a live version of ‘Leave House’, recorded in April for Lauren Laverne’s BBC 6Music show, here.
In further Caribou-related news, Swim has just been shortlisted for this year’s Polaris Music Prize, joining the likes of Broken Social Scene, Owen Pallett and Tegan and Sara in the running for the €20,000 award, the winner of which will be decided on September 20th. Snaith, of course, is no stranger to the prize, having scooped it just two years ago for his psychedlica-tinged Andorra LP. For a full rundown of this year’s Polaris shortlist, click here.
Anyone who can’t quite wait until December for their live Caribou fix can of course catch him at Stradbally this September (3rd-5th), when he plays this year’s Electric Picnic festival.
