The unmistakable voice of Absentee, Dan Michaelson's bit on the side Saltwater - backed by some Coastguards and a host of stellar guests - is released in a couple of months and here's what to expect:

What's it called? Saltwater

Where, when and with whom was it recorded? It was recorded at The Premises Studios in Hackney, Valgeir Sigurdsson came over from Iceland to produce six tracks. I had listened to the work he’d done with Bonnie Prince Billy and Sam Amidon and knew he’d be good. Then Nick Terry produced the other four, we’d got together for the Absentee album so there was a ready made understanding there. I saw Saltwater as an opportunity to work with as many musicians that I love as possible. In the end, I had Romeo from The Magic Numbers, Henry from Fields, Tom and Henry from Rumblestrips, Laurie from Absentee and Steve from Broken Family Band come and play on the record.

What can we expect? It’s a much sparser record than anything I’ve done before, less complicated in a way. Expect a deep voice urging you to listen to him going on about the wonder of women.

When's it due out? March 9.

When will it leak!?
When someone wants to hear it I suppose.

In A Ragged Word?
Soaked.
