We Were Promised Jetpacks' albums of the decade
i love MPP but i think i strawberry jam wins. the sounds and textures (not to mention, you know, the songs) are blended together so nautrally. the perfect mix of noise and live instruments.
from the click at the beginning of 1, to the click at the end of 8, it never gets not great.
it's a total cliche, but you get so lost in this album. everything is so dense and watery but you can pick out everything. genius.
we were 14 when this record came out and we all liked different music before this, but this is probably the first concept of a rock album we had. completely great.
it's brilliant right through to the end, but maybe the best opening sequence of songs ever?
a huge album for us and many many many more. we really wanted to but dre's 2001 on here but realised it came out in 1999. in 2019 people will want to put this on these lists but will realise it came out in 2009. i think i just compared this to 2001. that's fine, i'm sticking with it.
criminally under-rated. a completely great record. the second half of goodbye to the mother and the cover is perfect.
it was "critically acclaimed", and rightly so, but it may be a few more years before more people understand just how important this record is.
a really exciting album. one of those bands that, as you listen to, convince you that music that's not hot club de paris is silly and irrelevant.
biffy were the first band that all four of us liked together. i wanted infinity land on here but got over-ruled for this record, but it's still on here with pride. was "complex" songs without sacrificing anything. the strings at the end of now the action is on fire sound epic, not forced.
