Our photograper Duncan Elliott once memorably described Bill Callahan's trademark baritone as sounding like "a feathered chainsaw" (which he assures us is a very good thing). Thankfully the sometimes-grumpy former Smog man was in fine form on Friday night as he aired songs from his recent Apocalypse LP at Manchester's Central Methodist Hall.
