Holy Fuck's albums of the decade
Matt - At 76 years old, Ornette returns to a more free context a la his early-mid '60's output. His ideas and execution are as fresh here as ever, re-affirming that his theories of Harmolodic improvisation are as vital (and stunning) as when they first emerged in the late 1950's. Ornette is joined here by two basses and his son Denardo on drums.
Matt - A compilation of Raymond's earliest excursions into electronic music. Much of it was done for commercials, but this collection also contains film scores, sound collages, and other compositions he constructed on early multi-track tape machines and various synthesizers he built. His contribution to the field is immeasurable, and this compilation shows why.
Brian - Although this list isn't in any kind of order lets be cute and put this one in third place.
Matt - This came out of nowhere and blew minds. The perfect fusion of over/underdeveloped world cultures via samples, fashion, and wicked beats.
Brian - Super Psychedelic Hip Hop, can be listened to again and again simply on the merit of it's unique production.
Brian - It's best not to over think this one. Simply amazing record for all of us children of the nineties who miss truly charming, elancholy indie rock.
Brian - Graham and I both picked Broadcast but different records. So here are two.
Matt - Black Dice's hardcore dissonant sound turns cinematic and even at times pretty on their second full-length (and last with drummer Hisham Bharoocha). It points the way to their future textural compositions and expands the notions of what music really is, as all great avant garde music should
Brian - This was one of Graham's picks. But I'll also chime in my vote. Radiohead deserve a place on this list. And I agree with Graham; this is their best.
Brian - And finally another tie (which is fair cuz they're both MF Doom records, right?)
