Amazing songs, hooks, changes, vocal melodies and effects.great recording and mixing ideas. Amazing lyrics. Anthemic songs about such sad stuff at times.
Love the whole lo-fi feel and instrumentation which brings out the colour of the songs all the more. Super vocal ideas - melodies and counter-melodies.
Incredible song-writing and instrumentation. The Jongler is one of my favourite songs. Such an unusual melody.
An education in recording, mixing and making new sounds/textures with samples. Some hair-raising chord changes.
Understated vocals, great melodic songs and textures and atmospherics.the dvd on the making of its very interesting.
Amazing, cohesive work with fantastic, punchy songs that flow into each other so well
Andrew Broder is an superb songwriter and can warp any pop melody but still keep it catchy and listenable
Amazing songs and textures and vocal melodies. 'About To Walk' had an amazing melody and shows how much you can push into a mix of a song. Second drum kit comes in and takes the chorus up another notch.
'Young Shields' is one of my fav songs and the keyboard sound puts your head in Twin Peaks territory. The voice is so closely recorded and and is brimming with emotion.
Phil Elverum does whatever he wants in the studio and it's such an enjoyable listening experience with deadly songs.
