The Ambience Affair's albums of the decad
Jamie - Perfect lyrics & wonderful chord-driven songs. It typifies what I know to be Indie-Rock.
Jamie - For me it's their best album. Listening to it is like watching a great film,it's so dense and rewarding each time. Conor Oberst's lyrics and delivery in this album in particular have invoked thousands of thoughts about love and loss in my mind.
Jamie - This record changed music for me.It delivers tonnes of mainstream vocal & guitar hooks with an underground sound.Unforgettable.
Jamie - An album that made me realise the extent of what is possible to achieve in the course of a 45 minute record.
Jamie - The record where two electric guitars both played and fought with each other. All driven with excellent drum tracks and superb punchy bass lines. It sounds simple, but the effectiveness and ruthlessness in which it was delivered was superb.
Marc - An uncompromising record with a confused identity, it mixes mourning guitar wails (Ashes of American Flags), unashamed frolics (Heavy Metal Drummer) and harmonic, driving boppers (War on War, Pot Kettle Black). The story of this album is almost as good as the album itself.
Marc - Although this record has 80% of the members of Grizzly Bear, this is Dan Rossen's album through and through - it's dense texture stands up as one of the strongest releases of the last 9 years and keeps surprising me, even after the 1000 odd listens I've given it.
Not as tight as Veckatimist, but maybe that's why I prefer it. It sweeps, rolls, shuffles and rocks for 50 minutes and makes me want to press repeat as soon as it's finished.
Maybe because I'm a drummer or maybe because I'm sad - this record amazes me. Wilco drummer and percussionist makes a solo record with an incredible mix of technique, soul, experiments and character. Its even got a drum interpretation of a buddhist chant for gods sake.
Put simply, there's not a bad track on here and marks a huge turning point in this bands life.
