Anyone who wanted to bring their relationship with fuzzy noise pop - one that got serious in recent year thanks to records from No Age, Times New Viking and Abe Vigoda - up a notch in 2009, then San Diego's Nathan Williams was your man. Looser, more experimental and lo-fi than all three of the above put together, Williams four-track bedroom recording output as Wavves proved deeply addictive stuff, although not the only addiction associated with him as alcohol and drugs upset a hectic '09 touring schedules. Despite attacks from certain members of the online music press, Wavves' two, yes two, self-titled efforts remain hugely encouraging.
