Omar Rodriguez Lopez

Puerto Rican-born multi-instrumentalist Omar Rodriguez Lopez grew up in El Paso, Texas where he formed the hugely influencial hardcore band At The Drive In with, among others, friend Cedric Bixler-Zavala in 1993. After the band's disolution in 2001, the pair formed prog protagonists The Mars Volta. Throughout his time with the band, Lopez furiously recorded and released solo albums, with his and his (we think) eighth and first for Stones Throw, Old Money, arriving in early 2009.
