Micachu and The Shapes

Described rather nicely by one Ragged Words writer as Karen O playing a bunch of Woodie Guthrie songs, some-time grime mixtape maker, orchestral scorer and vacuum cleaner player, then 21-year-old Londoner Mica Levi pricked a number of people's attention with 2008 single 'Golden Phone'. Those included Rough Trade who released her debut album Jewellery - again with the assistance of The Shapes and production of Matthew Herbert - a rag-tag collection of skewed pop songs that will slow-burn their way through 2009.
