James Blackshaw

Instrumental English 12-string guitarist James Blackshaw’s ability to dumbfound a listener is matched only by the prolificacy with which he releases his compositions. He released two records (originally as CDR's) in 2004 - Celeste and Lost Prayers & Motionless Dances - before slowing down to just the one per year after that, with 2007's marvellous The Cloud of Unknowing proving particularly noteworthy for picking up widespread praise, most notably from Pitchfork. Litany Of Echoes followed a year later and also featured some equally intricate piano skills while The Glass Bead Game - Blackshaw's seventh album - is due in June '09.
