Foals
Almost crucified by hype on the eve of the release of 2008 debut album Antidotes, Foals - a five-piece formed after the demise of Oxford's The Edmund Fitzgeralds - came out the other side to play the hell out of it in bigger-by-the-tour venues. Why the excitement? Early singles 'Hummer' and 'Mathletics' - neither subsequently included on the album - will tell you all that's needed to know. Album number two should be finished the right side of 2009.

It will be with no small degree of trepidation when this gig-hungry hippo ventures Foals' way again after seeing them straddle brilliance and farce in equal measure on Thursday night in Dublin's Ambassador. |
