Detailing the roots of the ever-changing Belaire is like tracing the Bin Laden family tree. Although the ever-changing Austin synth-poppers haven’t altered their line up with quite the procreating proficiency of Mohamed, Osama’s old man who married 22 times and fathered 54 kids (some worse than others naturally) - they’re well on their way. The original circa 2004 foursome of Cari Palazzolo, Christa Palazzolo, Winston Chapman and Jason Chronis Belaire came together from various familiar and less familiar projects (Fancy Feast, Voxtrot, Cari Music). Chapman quickly left to be replaced by Matt Simon (another Voxtrot member). Enter recording/ release of debut EP’s and LP. Exit Christa and Matt. In came Christine Aprile, Danny Reisch and Eli Welbourne for what was, touch wood, a happy five-piece by spring 2008.
Following a little stability, Belaire showed up on the cross-Atlantic radar in the summer of '08 wwith the Pure Groove affiliated Lost In Paris label’s 7” release of ‘You Really Got Me Goin’’. A sunny Fountains of Wayne meets Stereolab example from the afforementioned, beaming 2007 debut LP Exploding Impacting. The band began recording their second album in early 2009 with the aim of a release later in the year.
